Preparing for an Interview
We want you to demonstrate your full potential in any interview situation. Here are some tips which you may find particularly useful if you have limited interview experience:
- Learn as much as you can about JPMorgan, our business and our culture. Look at our website, and speak with people whom you may know in the industry.
- Read the financial press regularly and be prepared to discuss topical issues.
- Know yourself - think about why a career in financial services is of interest to you. What skills do you have that would help you to succeed? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are you looking for in a career?
- Rehearse - if you have not had much interview experience, attending practice sessions at your university careers service can be beneficial.
- Think about each question carefully and structure your thoughts. Have confidence and be honest.
- Answer the question asked, rather than the one that you have practised. Never give answers 'parrot fashion'.
- Demonstrate your interest and have some questions for us. This is your chance to learn more about our business and culture.
- Watch your body language - posture, hand shake, eye contact.
- Build rapport with your assessor.
- Wear appropriate business dress and act professionally at all times.
- Make sure your mobile is switched off!
- Allow plenty of time to travel to your interview and plan your route the evening before. Arriving late is an unfortunate way to start.
